Jill Splaine is a Boston-area artist based in Dedham, Massachusetts. Working primarily in acrylic paint and acrylic markers, she is drawn to bold, saturated color and the way it can transform familiar scenes into something unexpected.

Her work is inspired by the landscapes, flowers, and everyday moments she encounters on walks with her dog and while traveling. She begins with a photograph, then pushes color, shape, and line to create her own version of the scene.

Jill's path back to art began somewhat unexpectedly. She found herself drawn toward a more creative life and began working in business and operations at an art center, where she could take art classes, meet artists, and find a community of friends to draw and create with. Making art simply made her happy—and over time, that creative practice became an increasingly important part of her life.

Today, Jill continues to explore the everyday through drawing and painting, looking for moments that can be made a little brighter, bolder, and more alive through color.
